5 Star Lane is a modern house, built by your hosts, Raymond and Merlin Sansom, on the hill above Lake Wakatipu, and overlooking the lake, the mountains beyond, and the Remarkables range. We have two sons and their families living overseas who visit us, and many friends whose regular visits we enjoy. Guests to the B&B are warmly welcomed into this circle, and invited to become our friends.
At 5 Star Lane we want to provide for your comfort in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner. The house is fully insulated, and guests have control of the heating in their rooms. Our environmental policies and practices have earned us Qualmark ‘Enviro-silver’ status.

There is a guest lounge/ dining room, with a cosy fire in the winter, and air-conditioning in the summer. You will be welcomed with tea or coffee and home baking. Facilities are there for you to make tea or coffee for yourselves any time, with home made cookies provided. TV, Email access, and a selection of books, games and videos are provided. We offer a laundry service for a small charge.
All the rooms have views of the lake and the Remarkables, and the deck along the front of the house is a lovely place to sit to watch the sunset colours on the mountains. Our friendly poodles, Boodi and Alice may join you there!

We have two guest bedrooms, each with a view of the lake and mountains, and a private patio area. There is a queen double bed in one room and in the other you have the option of super-king or twin beds. Both have ensuite bathrooms. There is a sauna for guest use, and robes are provided. Each bedroom has its own heating/cooling with guest-controlled thermostat. We ask you not to smoke inside.
